Dear Friends of West Riverside,
It’s time for us to travel back in time and experience West
Riverside Old Time School 2024

Our school day starts with the flag pledge, reading outdoors,
arithmetic, spelling, history, science, practicing plays and
poems. Show and tell, especially old pictures, wood tools,
and any items that engage our students in learning about
history. Students and parents are encouraged to bring home
items each day. Thursday is cabin day with students making
pancakes and hand churned butter with plenty of maple
syrup. A hand-washing station will be outside for use during
the day. Students and visitors will use the west doors to
enter and the east door to exit the school. There are
restrooms on-site as well.

We will be offering 4 one week sessions Students in grades
1-8 and are over the age of six this year are eligible. Class
size is 28 students.

The school day will run Monday thru Friday, from 9-1, On
Friday games start at 10:30, program at 11:00 and a family
picnic at 12:00. The cost will be $90 per student or $80 per
student if your family is a member of the Isanti County
Historical Society.

Students who are in grades 1-8 and over the age of six find out what it was like to attend a rural school in 1900, and we ask them to wear old-fashioned clothes, bring two sharpened lead pencils, an old-fashioned lunch in a basket, or pail, and their own hand towel. Students may bring old books, toys, wooden articles, etc. to show at school.
